GotOptions Privacy Policy
Effective date: To be set at launch.
This policy explains what information GotOptions collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. GotOptions is designed to be local-first: by default, the positions you track live in storage on your own device, not on our servers.
Who we are
GotOptions is operated by Kearsarge Studios LLC ("we," "us"). For any privacy question or request, contact hello@kearsargestudios.com. This policy covers the GotOptions app and its related services. It does not cover the Kearsarge Studios marketing website, which has its own privacy policy, or any third-party service you connect.
Information we collect

We do not collect special categories of sensitive personal information beyond financial-account connections you choose to set up, and we do not ask for your government ID or Social Security number.
How we use information
We use information to provide and secure the Service; to sync your data across your devices when you enable that; to process subscriptions; to fetch the market and account data you request; to diagnose problems and improve the app; to communicate with you about the Service; and to comply with law. We do not use your tracked positions or watchlists to target advertising.
Advertising
The free version of GotOptions may display advertisements; a paid subscription removes them. Where ads are shown, an advertising partner may process limited device information to serve and measure them. We do not share your tracked positions, watchlists, or brokerage data with any advertising partner.
When we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law. We disclose information only to:
- Service providers that operate the Service on our behalf — for example, our hosting and database provider, app analytics, crash reporting, and (for paid plans) the app store or payment processor — under contracts limiting their use of the data.
- Providers you connect, such as your brokerage or a market-data provider, to deliver the data you request.
- Legal and safety recipients, when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
- A successor, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
How long we keep information
On-device content stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. If you use cloud sync, we keep synced content while your account is active and delete it within 30 days after you delete your account, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law or resolve disputes. Server and diagnostic logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to opt out of any sale or sharing (we do neither), and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA), other U.S. states with privacy laws, and the EEA/UK (GDPR) have these or similar rights. To make a request, email hello@kearsargestudios.com; we will verify and respond within the time the law requires. You can also delete your account and data directly — see below.
For EEA/UK users, our legal bases are performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Service), consent (where we ask for it, such as certain ads or analytics), and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent and have the right to complain to your data-protection authority.
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account and associated data from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete account), and you can also request deletion from our website at kearsargestudios.com/legal/gotoptions/delete-account. Deleting the app from your device removes on-device content from that device. See that page for exactly what is deleted and what, if anything, we must retain.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encryption in transit and keeping any connected brokerage tokens on our server rather than in your browser. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
GotOptions is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Where information is processed
We operate in the United States, and information may be processed there. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries with different data-protection laws.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected in a revised effective date and, where appropriate, additional notice in the app.
